What is Polarization?

Polarized light also travels, but it moves in two dimensions: horizontally and vertically. Vertical light directs useful information to the eye, allowing us to see colors and contrasts, while horizontal light creates glare or “optical noise”.

Wherever light hits a non-metallic surface it is reflected in a horizontal plane. Typically this is what happens on a road or on a body of water.
